Janet L. Peterson (Jannie}, 70, of Athens, PA, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter, lost her 2-month battle with cancer and a life-long battle with schizoaffective disorder and Parkinson's disease on August 1, 2012. Janet was born in Olean, NY on October 4, 1941, the daughter of the late John H. and Cleone E. (Allen) Bish. She is survived by her son, David (Cris) Peterson of Hammondsport, NY, Toni (George) Ballenstedt of Sayre, William (Cindy) Peterson of Sussex, WI, and Michael Peterson of Prattsburg, NY and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were such a joy to her: Jessica, Amanda, and Matthew Peterson; Anthony (Michelle) Peterson; Brittany (Geoff) Anderson; Carly and Chloe Peterson, Nathan Peterson; Miranda, Anthony Jr., Kasidy, Jared, and Kaylee Peterson; and Paige Anderson. Also surviving are her angel-sister, Jacquelynn (Randy) Baldwin of Carrollton, VA, and her brother-in-law, Major Robert (Evi) Jordan of Ft. Meade, MD along with many special nieces, nephews, cousins (including a very special cousin, Alma Josbena of Towanda, PA) and many friends. In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by another special sister, Majol "Midge"Jordan in 1995. Janet was a long time member of the Sayre Christian Church in Sayre, PA and a proud graduate of the Athens High School class of 1959. A special thank you to Dr. Philip Lowry, Dr. M. Edrissian and the 8th floor staff at the Guthrie Clinic, staff of Elderwood Rehabilitation Center, Guthrie Hospice, Father Bryan Wright and especially, Rev. James Donahoo. Janet was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her perseverance despite many life challenges will always inspire us. Family and friends may call at the Jay E. Keystone Ave, Sayre, PA on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at 2 pm. Burial will be at Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA at the convenience of the family.
