Fred Wolfgang Ray Friedrich, 74, of Elmira, NY passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on June 15, 1937 in Berlin, Germany the son of the late Erhard and Leony Schulze Friedrich. Fred was a former active member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he taught 7th grade Sunday School and served as an usher. He was self-employed as a Painting and Paper Hanging Contractor from 1960-1999. Fred was an avid Hummel Collector and was a charter member of the M.I. Hummel Club. Fred is survived by his wife of 21 years Nancy at home, children John Paul and his wife Julie Ann Friedrich of Palm Harbor, FL, Thomas James and his wife Lee Ann Friedrich of Elmira, NY, and Cassandra A. Miller of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Dominick J. Miller of Sayre, PA, Nicholas Schrader of Sayre, PA, Melissa Friedrich of Elmira Heights, NY, Sean and his wife Valerie Friedrich of Elmira, NY, great-grandchildren Carter and Spencer Trumbull of Elmira Heights, NY, cousins Brigette Salamon of Berlin, Germany, Ulrich Welke of Sprockhoevel, Germany, and Claudia Kasueschke of Sprockhoevel, Germany . Friends and family may call on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 9am – 11am at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 11am at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Mowrey officiating from St. John Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
