Obituary of Ollie Talada
Ollie F. Talada, Sr., 81, of Athens, PA, went to be with his Heavenly Father and loved ones on Tuesday, August 14, 2012.
He was born on May 25, 1931 in Sayre, PA the son of Wayne and Sodonia Ulenski Talada.
Ollie loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren which held a special place in his heart, and spending time with his animals. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening, and watching television. Ollie was a Veteran, serving in the 16th Infantry 1st Division, and served in the Korean Conflict and Germany in the Cold War. In 1954, he married Doris E. Walker, and 7 children and he was cherished and loved by all of them and will be dearly missed all his family and by all who knew and loved him.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Doris E. Talada, son Robert, grandson Richard Bailey, father Wayne Talada, mother Sodonia Holbert, step-father Albert Holbert, brother Jim Talada, sisters, Beatrice Roberts, Ina Dildene, and Virginia Holbert, special uncle James Talada, and special companion his dog Bubba.
Ollie is survived by his children Albert C. and Eva Jane Talada of Roaring Branch, PA, Ollie F. and Beverly Talada of Athens, PA, Dale A. Talada and special friend Rose Marie of Lancaster, PA, Randy Talada and special friend Lena Vanzile of Sayre, PA, Kandy and Kenneth Bailey, Sr. of Sayre, PA, and Patricia Talada of Athens, PA, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, siblings and their spouses Pat (Earl) Walker of Gillett, PA, Arlene Talada of Athens, PA, Alberta (Ronald) Wolcott of Waverly, NY, Nester (Betty) Holbert of Rome, PA, and Albert (Phyllis) Holbert of Rome, PA, brother-in-laws Robert (Virginia) Walker of NY and James Walker of NY, sister-in-law Ruth (George) Dismore of TN, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins .
Friends and family may call on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 12pm – 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 2pm with the Rev. John Talada officiating.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery.
