Obituary of John Janosko
John J. Janosko, 83, of Sayre, Pa, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at home.
He was born on February 28, 1929 in Forty Fort, PA the son of the late John J. and Dormecella Dukinas Janosko.
John moved to the Valley area at the age of 12, and graduated from Waverly High School in 1947. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and served in the Korean Conflict. John worked for IBM, Owego, NY, retiring in 1990, but he continued to work as an independent consultant until 2000. In addition to his work, John was an avid Mets and Penn State Fan, who enjoyed golf and fishing but the most important thing to him was spending time with family and friends. John was a member of Epiphany Church, V.F.W. Skiff-Bower Post #1536, the ELKS, and Lifetimers, Former President of the Redskin Club, and Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Waverly.
He is predeceased by his sister Dorothy A. Bright, Oct. 11, 1986.
John is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary at home, children John and Jeanne Janosko of Poolesville, MD, Patrick and Eileen Janosko of Sayre, PA, and Brian Janosko of Sayre, PA, grandchildren Jennifer and Andrew Beirnstein, Katie and Tom Krupica, Christine and Louie Nardelli, Robert and Jessica Janosko, Kelley and David Gabriel, Ashley Janosko, Kimberly Janosko, and Laura Janosko, granddogs Maggie, Louis, and Bailey, 6 great-grandsons, brother-in-law Edwin Bright, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6pm– 8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 9:30am at St. James Catholic Church, 503 Clark Street, Waverly, NY with the Rev. Vincent Langan officiating.
Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
