Obituary of Joan Randolph
Joan Baker Randolph died of natural causes on August 30, 2012. She was 89. Mrs. Randolph was born in Sayre, PA on December 19, 1922, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leman Baker, also of Sayre.
Joan graduated Valedictorian from Sayre High School in 1940. She subsequently attended Pennsylvania State University, earning a B.A. in Psychology. She married William J. Randolph in 1945. The couple had three sons.
During the 1960’s, while still raising her family, Mrs. Randolph decided to become a teacher. She went back to school, eventually earning a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Maryland. She taught elementary students for many years in Montgomery County, Maryland, where she lived.
Mrs. Randolph enjoyed music, travel, and beach vacations with her family. She is survived by her husband of 67 years; her three sons, Bill, Jeff, and Bob, her sister Gail, of Nashville, TN, and four grandchildren.
A private internment ceremony will be held on September 5th at the Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, PA. She will be missed.
