Elizabeth Jane Osborne Towner, of Sayre, PA, our beloved sister and aunt passed away at ElderWood, Waverly, NY on October 27, 2012. She was born May 6, 1923, the daughter of the late Sidney Clyde and Sarah Leona Brown Osborne. Elizabeth was a graduate of the Athens High School class of 1941. She was married to Hershey J. Towner, July 12, 1958 and they resided in Towanda for twenty-six years. She worked at various executive secretarial engineering positions, retiring from GTE Products (Sylvania) as the Executive Secretary in Engineering on February 1, 1976. When she and her husband retired, they continued their camping travels, which they both so loved. They were able to spend winters in Florida and had traveled with camping friends to many places in the U.S. They also were both top bowlers and played in competitions. Both were active in lodge work. Elizabeth was a member of the Lady Griffin Rebekah Lodge from July 1941 to November 1993. She was a member of the Past Noble Grand and received the Degree of Chivalry in Allentown, PA. She was also a member of Athens-Sayre Senior Citizens. Her nieces remember her as the historian and record keeper of the family. Her amazing memory for details and events that happened in the valley and the family and her meticulous organizational skills were remarkable. Her prized possession was an album of her life which her niece, Elizabeth, had put together from tapes she had recorded. She was predeceased by her husband Hershey "Pat" on October 20, 1984, her brothers Clyde Myron, Edgar Merle, and Guy Osborne. She was also predeceased by a step-son John Garth Towner who was killed in Vietnam in 1965. Elizabeth is survived by her close sister, Helen L. Corl of Athens, PA, her nieces Linda Corl (Gene) Daugherty of VanEtten, NY Elizabeth Jane Corl (John) Lewis of Summerville, SC, Jill Corl (Jack) Donlin of Wesley Chapel, FL, Donna Jean (Charles) Merrick of KS, Patricia (Lou) Osborne Martin of Waverly, NY, Bonnie (Harry) Campbell of Athens, PA, Cynthia (Cliff) Cheeks of Sayre, PA Holly (Gary) Fairbanks of Athens, PA, Edgar, Jr. (Darlene) Osborne AZ, step-daughter Susan Towner Mitchell of Harrisburg, PA and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She will be buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery alongside her husband, Pat, Towanda, PA.
