Thank you all for posting these stories. My sister and I loved our grandfather so much and reading these memories are so enjoyable. I can just see him on the railroad tracks working his arms with rocks! what an amazing man. I will miss you Gramps!

My sincere condolences to my cousins and families.Uncle Donald was a great man, uncle, brother. Whenever I saw him he was always interested in how my life was going. As a kid he loved to tease, he had a great laugh and smile. He will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear about Mr. Setzer. He was a man's man. Mike, I still think about his training regimen, running along the railroad tracks and doing arm exercised with rocks. Wow.
Marina and I are sorry for your loss.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all - Jo-an and Darlene. I'll always remember how he would give me a quarter for each grade I passed in school. I was so proud that he did that and cared enough for me to do it although I was just one of many nieces!

Many blessings to Uncle Donald and all my cousins.
My favorite memory is the day I walked by him on the front yard of Lockhart Street, at about age 6. He gave me some small coin and asked me to do him a favor and go across the street to Carl's Grocery and get him an ice cream cone. When I brought it back, he asked me to do another favor and eat it for him.
I can still see his little smile and hear his chesty chuckle. I think it gave him at least as much pleasure as it gave me.
What a guy!

If there were a gold medal for a great guy Don would surely wear it. Don always had a smile and a warm greeting when you had the pleasure of his company. Rest in peace Don.

My deepest condolences to my cousins and their families. Uncle Donald was a wonderful man who will be sadly missed. He reminded me so much of my father Albert (Mike), they had the same sense of humor. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May you rest in peace Uncle Donald.

My sympathies to all my cousins and their families.
Your Dad was a wonderful man, took great care of your mother and was a good friend and brother-in-law to my parents, Jack and Edith. He and my Dad were great compadres later in life and enjoyed their afternoon outings to the local "clubs".
He scared the heck out of me when I was a small child because of his deep voice, but I got over it and came to cherish him.
