Joseph L. Platt, 75, of Milan, PA, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born on December 27, 1939 in Sayre, PA the son of the late Joseph and Edna Williams Platt. Joseph loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He worked at Ingersoll Rand, Waverly Foundry and taught at Penn State, Main Campus. He enjoyed woodworking and made many different projects. Joseph spent many hours in his woodshop working with and teaching his children his craftsmanship. He will be missed by his family and friends but he is now with his beloved wife, Margaret. He is predeceased by his wife Margaret Ann Platt, son Daniel Platt, and brother David Platt. Joseph is survived by his son Michael and Ellen Platt of Milan, PA, daughter-in-law Kim Platt of Milan, PA, grandchildren Dustin Platt, Amanda Gallagher, Stephanie Miller, Michael Platt, and Megan Platt, great-grandchildren Emily Frisbee, Connor Gallagher, Wayne Tunnicliff, Aiden Miller, and Mia Miller, sister-in-law Fran Platt of Rome, NY, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 11am-12pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at the funeral home at 12pm with the Rev. James Donahoo officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
