Candace Marie "Candy" Sweet Preston, 52, of Athens, PA died on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY surrounded by her family. She was born on September 27, 1962 in Waverly, NY the daughter of Carl and Patricia Casselbury Sweet. Candy enjoyed gardening, canning, and needle work. She graduated from Athens Area High School in 1980. She loved her family and helping others. Her little dog Chico was her constant and cherished companion. Candy loved to help her friends at the Main Link. Her greatest joy was her family. She was the proud mother who saw two daughters graduate college, Stephanie from Mansfield University and Lillian who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Keystone College. She is predeceased by her father Carl H. Sweet, brother-in-law David Mitchell, maternal grandparents Earl and Lillian Casselbury, paternal grandparents Festus and Esther Sweet, aunts and uncles Marie and David Horton, and Roland and Sandy Sweet. Candace is survived by her beloved husband of 16 years, Charles "Chuck" Preston at home, daughters and sons-in-law Lillian and Chad Foust of Troy, PA and Stephanie and Chad Gable of Waverly, NY, mother Patricia Casselbury Sweet of Waverly, NY, sister Crystal Mitchell of Athens, PA, sisters and brothers-in-law Carla and Patrick McQuay of Athens, PA and Dr. Constance Sweet and James Tice of Towanda, PA, aunt and uncle Anne and Alex Docktor of Edgewater, FL and aunt Phyllis Haas of Sayre, PA, six nieces and nephews, one great-niece, and two great-nephews. Surviving also is her beloved dog companion Chico. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 10am at the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn Mahaffey officiating.
