Janice M. Gleockner, 86, of Waverly, NY passed away on August 25, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born on September 3, 1928 in Sayre, PA the daughter of the late Leon and Claribel Porter Hawthorne. Janice loved spending time with her family and friends. She was very proud to have worked for over 40 years as the Switchboard Operator at Robert Packer Hospital. She loved to knit and was an avid NY Yankees fan and could be seen in front of the TV when they were playing. She enjoyed traveling abroad. She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years David C. Gleockner in 2011, sister Madeline Arnold, and brothers Franklin Hawthorne and Donald Hawthorne. Janice is survived by her children Lynne O'Brien of Waverly, NY, Laurie Gleockner of Sayre, PA, Nancy and Jan Beck of Duncannon, PA, Phillip and Paula Wood of O'Fallon, IL, and Gary Wood of Milan, PA, grandchildren Cherise Hug of Anchorage, AK, David Beck of Duncannon, PA, Erika Broyles of Elliotsburg, PA, Amy Albright of Denver, CO, Phillip Wood of Maryville, IL, Robyn Wood of Trenton, IL, Jesse Wood of Fairview Heights, IL, great-grandchildren Vincent and Mason Hug, Lucas and Lillian Wood, Parker Rosson, Aurora and Phoenix Broyles, and Zack and Lizzie Albright, special nephews Guy, Gary, and Glen Gleockner, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends may call on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 12pm – 2pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm at the funeral home with the Rev. James Donahoo officiating. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
