Gertrude O. Weiss, 96, of Athens, PA passed away on April 18, 2016 at her home. She was born on November 7, 1919 in Nazareth, PA, the daughter of the late C. William and Ida Silfes Michael. Gertrude was a full-time mother, and also was employed with Burkhart Toy Store and as a Bookkeeper/Sales Clerk with Paluzzi's Shoe Store. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Being very athletic in high school herself, she was very involved in the sports her family was involved in as they all were a very athletic family. Her husband, Vic, was a pro baseball player and her sons played football and basketball but Gertrude was always the MVP of the family. She is predeceased by her son Donald Weiss in 2010 and 9 brothers and sisters. Gertrude is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years, Victor at home, son and daughter-in-law Robert and Tracy Weiss of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren Jessica Weiss and Tim Farley of Atlanta, GA, Angela and Chris Heick of Dallas, TX, Stuart and Maureen Weiss of Fargo, ND, and Grace Weiss of Austin, TX, great-granddaughter Caeli Weiss of Fargo, ND, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1pm at Tioga Point Cemetery, 803 North Main Street, Athens, PA with the Rev. Andrew Weidner officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, PA.
