Obituary of Eva M. Wade
Eva M. Wade, 69, of Sayre, PA, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
She was born on July 16, 1948 in Waverly, NY, the daughter of the late Donald and Elsie (Presher) Wade.
Eva was a science teacher with the Towanda School District, having taught at both the Middle and High Schools, retiring after over 30 years. She was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA). Eva ran the Science Fair at the middle school for many years. She adored photography, and enjoyed taking and printing photographs, and gave many of them to those that loved them. Her specialty was visiting and photographing lighthouses on the East Coast. The Center for Coastal Studies piqued Eva's interest in whale watching, and she loved going on whale watches. She supported PBS Stations, and had been a member of WSKG and WVIA for many years. She enjoyed studying her family's genealogy, and visited England to research her (father) Wade family history. She also researched her paternal (Presher) and the maternal (Macafee) families. Eva had a love for Celtic music, especially Celtic Thunder and The High Kings.
She is predeceased by her maternal grandparent, Norman and Eva Macafee and maternal aunt, Betty Macafee.
Eva is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank "Farmer" (Betty Kohlmier) Presher, Jr. of Prattsburgh, NY, Norman (Wilma) Presher of Penn Yan, NY, Donald (Rosie) Presher of Prattsburgh, NY, brother, James Presher, sister and brother-in-law, Vicki (Anthony) Havens of Lyons, NY, aunt, Louise Simmons of Waverly, NY, uncle, Norman Macafee, Jr. of Westport, PA, special cousin, Malcolm (Judith) Wade of England, many nieces, nephews, great- nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and close friends Evie and Jack Drumm of Prattsburgh, NY, and Bernadette M. Toombs of Owego, NY, and she will be remembered by many of her students and co-workers.
At Eva's request, there will be no calling hours or services. The family will hold a private celebration at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., Athens, PA.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
