Obituary of John Findon Perry I
John Findon Perry I, 74, of South Waverly, PA, passed away surrounded by his beloved family at Robert Packer Hospital on Thursday, December 7, 2017 following a brief illness.
He was born on August 3, 1943 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Norman and Esther (Page) Perry.
John was a Veteran of the US Navy. He was employed with IR, Athens for many years. John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. Because of his love for fishing, he taught each of his children, grandchildren, and anyone that wanted to learn the art of fishing. He was an avid NY Yankees and Redskins fan. One of his enjoyments in life, was his daily rides in his dream car, "His Purple Dodge Charger" with his devoted companion, his dog, Rambo, cruising to his favorite tunes by Elvis. John was a member of the Skiff-Bower VFW Post #1593, Sayre and Post #283 American Legion, Sayre.
He is predeceased by his brother William Perry, and his faithful companion, his dog, Poncho.
John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ethel, at home, children Coreena and James Stanton of Athens, PA, Kellie and Greg Ficarro of South Waverly, PA, Eric and Susan Perry of Athens, PA, and Kristi and Ronald Walker of Lemoore, CA, step-children, Cindy and Ronald Lerche of Waverly, NY, Bonnie and Joe Manzari of Elmira, NY, Robert Frisbie of Waverly, NY, and John Frisbie of Waverly, NY, grandchildren, Amber and John, Dustin, Timothy, John F. II and Jenna, Seth, Ashley, Taylor, Shara, Halleigh, Nicholas, Rylie, Cady and Mike, Michael, Alex, Zachary, Bradley, Joshua, Anna and Ken, Christopher and Shannon, Melissa and AJ, Robert, Scott, Amanda, David and Brandon, and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Cole of Athens, Pa, brother Theodore Perry of Athens, PA, sister Lorraine Stack of Canandaigua, NY, brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Rhea Perry of Athens, PA, sister Patricia Erb of Athens, PA, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his constant faithful companion, his dog, Rambo.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4pm-6pm at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens, PA. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 6pm with Pastor Jonathan Lerche officiating.
