Obituary of Donald T. Harding
Donald “Don” T. Harding, 79, of Athens, PA, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
He was born on July 19, 1938 in Sayre, PA, the son of the late Donald L. and Mamie (Paul) Harding.
Don was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving abroad the USS Robinson and USS Everglades. Upon returning from the service, he worked for A&P, Hadco, and the Athens Area School District as a Custodian and Crossing Guard, prior to retiring. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his woodshop. His specialty was cane making which he freely gave to those in need. Don was a member of the Athens Tree Commission and Sayre Sportsman’s Club. He was a past member of the Waverly American Legion and the Susquehanna Valley Audubon Society.
He is predeceased by his son, Christopher Harding and brother, Paul Harding.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Ina (Frey) Harding at home, daughter, Leona Malanoski of Athens, PA, grandchildren, Anne Marie and Erin (Vanderbroek) Dowd of Sodus, NY, Justin (Dixie Waite) Harding of Wolcott, NY, and Shane Malanoski of Athens, PA, several great-grandchildren and one he was looking forward to meeting in May, and several great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores Ennis of Big Flats, NY, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 1pm-3pm at the Jay
E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 South Main Street, Athens,
PA. A Memorial Service will follow at 3pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Old Quaker Cemetery, Shunk, PA at the convenience of the family.
