Obituary of Charles Matthew Tappan
"Matt" Charles Matthew Tappan, 46, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1971 in Sayre, PA, the son of Lee and Charlotte (Shaffer) Tappan.
Matt was a loving husband and father, whose life revolved around his family. Spending time with them was his highest priority, he loved them fiercely and was loved the same way in return. He was a 1991 graduate of Waverly High School. Following graduation, he attended Corning Community College, where he obtained his Associates Degree. Furthering his education, he went to Mansfield Police Academy, where he received an award as Sharp Shooter of his class. Matt was employed with PennDot in Towanda as a Truck Driver. He also served as a Pennsylvania State Constable and worked in the past for the police departments in Renovo and Athens Borough. His all-time favorite movie star was John Wayne, and he had a collection of every one of his movies. He was an avid gun enthusiast. Matt enjoyed hunting and although his health prevented him from going the last few years, he still maintained his guns and he missed being able to be a part of going out with his family and friends. He enjoyed attending car shows and building model cars. He loved tinkering on anything, especially cars, but nothing was beyond his repairing ability. By his side, was always his faithful and loyal companion, his dog, Rex.
Matt is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Aviva at home, children, Justin Graham of Waverly, NY, Joshua Tappan at home, and Miranda Tappan at home, parents, Lee and Charlotte Tappan of Waverly, NY, sisters, Holly Krause of Waverly, NY and Tiffany Tappan of Nichols, NY, brother, Brandon Tappan of Waverly, NY, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gail and Louis Sandroni of Waverly, NY, father-in-law, Wellington Graham of Canton, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
