I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the family. During this difficult time, God is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit He saves.

Uncle Dick was a kind and jovial man. He saw the glass half full...never half empty. He always took whatever life threw at him, accepted it and moved on. For me, his greatest gift was (in the year 2000) giving me an entire family. He is directly responsible for presenting me with a father and mother, 5 siblings and their children, cousins and their families, and Janet and himself. He was all about family and his mission was to leave no one out. With me, he succeeded in great fashion and I will always be grateful to him for caring enough to do so. Thank you Uncle Dick (and Janet too). You've given me , and my family unconditional love and acceptance and vastly enriched my life. You will be missed by many. Rest peacefully and may God hold you in His hands.

I am so sad to hear of Dick's moving on, but I rejoice in the fact that he now is in the presence of the Lord, his beloved wife Janet, daughter Lynn, and brother Donald. Our prayer is that the Lord will surround his family and friends with His presence, and comfort them during this time of loss.
Dick was more like a father to me than an uncle. He taught me many things that have followed me, and served me well throughout my life. I always looked forward to spending time with him and Janet. I always felt welcome and at home when visiting with them. He was a true renaissance man, able to discuss everything from science, philosophy, history, religion, genealogy, and politics with equal depth, passion, and intelligence. Remembering all those conversations lasting until the wee hours of the morning will be some of my most cherished memories. What amazed me was his humbleness; he never seemed to grasp how much he knew and how much he enriched the lives of others. The light of this world burns less brightly with Dick's home-going. I look forward to the day when I cross the threshold of death's doorway into heaven and rejoin him. Until then, Dick, be blessed!
