i would like to express my condolences to philip's immediate family on his passing. i know the last few years have been difficult. i'm sure he's in a better place now. though i havent seen or talked to duz in quite a few years, he left a lasting impression on me in my younger days. there's no denying the fact that philip had an adventurous side, and myself, being less of a risk taker, was given a few "life experiences" i would otherwise not have been part off, if not for "buddying" up with him. for example, as a 19 year old, deeply missing a romantic interest in a far off locale, and not having any mode of transportation to visit her, on a lark, i asked philip if i could borrow his motorcycle for a long weekend. he didnt hesitate to say "sure!". knowing i had no motorcycle experience, or license, for that matter, it just didnt matter to him. so off we went to the K Mart parking lot for some quick instruction of kick starting, gearchanging, hand levers, etc. until i kinda had the hang of it. what the parking lot didnt allow, though, was the application of all of these instructions in "real" road type situations. so we pulled out onto elmira street, then down pitney. with duz behind me on the back seat, i was cruising along, doing the speed limit (35mph), when all of a sudden, he reached around me, took control of the throttle and cranked down on it! we lurched forward, reaching 60mph within seconds!! i felt the skin on my face pull back,as he was now controlling the bike from the passenger seat!! you see, he knew i needed to feel the essence of what riding a motorcycle was about and not to fear going fast! not to fear going fast.... we should all have a "daredevil" in our lives. philip was in mine. duz, you'll be missed.

I would lie to offer my sincere condolences to the family, and friends, of Phil VanDuzer. We went to grammar school together, and we also went to the Keystone Baptist Church together. Many , many years have passed since, and we changed, and went our separate ways, but God never changes ever, and he never goes away. Blessings to you in this difficult time. The Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
